Ashley Smith and Greg Bouzianis orginally had another destination in mind for their island nuptials, but fate had other plans. Little did this couple know that starting their destination search from scratch would lead to a life-altering move.

An avid traveler, Ashley grew-up vacationing in the Caribbean. “But we never thought that would land us living on an island more than 2200 miles from home,” says Greg of the couples’ recent move from Dallas to Saint Croix.

Greg secretly traveled nearly 500 miles from Dallas to Kansas City, Mo. to propose, a mere hour from where the couple met. A careful plan involving family and friends, a loft full of rose petals, and black-and white photos taken throughout the couple’s courtship greeted Ashley. “I remember gasping when I walked in,” says Ashley. She followed a path lined by flickering white candles and found Greg on one knee at the end. “I had been pacing and rehearsing my speech,” says Greg.

He then gave Ashley “a gorgeous Tacori diamond and platinum engagement ring,” she says. Just as she thought the surprise was complete, Ashley entered the restaurant to find more than 30 friends, some
from states away, waiting to give her a surprise engagement party.“

Just one year after meeting, the couple started planning their wedding. “I had a beach wedding in mind early on,” says Ashley. After learning a family favorite resort on Vieques no longer existed, the couple began researching neighboring Caribbean islands. A “scouting trip” to St. Croix and St. Thomas one year before the wedding, confirmed that St. Croix was “more our style.” The couple specifically “fell in love” with the Carambola Beach Resort & Spa, where photographer Kelly Greer took their engagement pictures.

“We wanted to host our wedding at a place that reassured our guests they had traveled many miles for good reason,” says Greg. “Carambola has it all.”

Wedding coordinator Cindy Clearwater of SunCelebrations assisted Greg and Ashley with planning their wedding from Dallas. “Coming from an event planning background, I was confident I could handle most of the planning,” says Ashley. “But having Cindy as my on-island resource for vendor referrals and local knowledge was so valuable.”

With Clearwater’s help and a Valentine trip to St. Croix in February to address details, the couple returned to the island for their April wedding. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with welcome bags filled
with decadent, local treats like chocolates from Steele’s Smokes and Sweets and bottles of Cruzan Rum. Guests were invited to Carambola Beach for a sandcastle building contest to get-to-know one another. That evening, the wedding party enjoyed a sushi dinner at Dashi and wine at Zebo’s in Christiansted. “All but one of our 30 guests were new to St. Croix,” says Greg. “So we enjoyed showing them the hidden gems we had found on the island.”

As certified scuba divers, the couple arranged for guests to try the sport in the resort pool, followed by a shore dive off Carambola Beach the day before the wedding. Later that day, all were invited
to the Tibet Room, which was converted into a movie theatre for the occasion. Greg surprised guests with two videos – one of his proposal to Ashley captured by hidden cameras, and a montage of pictures
from childhood and the couple’s time together, set to meaningful music. Following, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in conjunction with Carambola’s pirate buffet, where traditional mocko jumbies performed. The morning of the wedding, the mother of the bride hosted a bridal brunch at the Mahogany Restaurant.

As family and friends arrived at the oceanfront wedding site, program fans personalized with their names waited on bamboo chairs. The tiffany blue, ivory and platinum color palette was reflected in accent ribbon, the silk neckties of five groomsmen, and silk dresses in varying silhouettes worn by five bridesmaids. As music from a trio of wind instruments played, Ashley was presented in a cream couture wedding gown, carrying a bold bouquet of purple orchids. Greg awaited her under an arc of palm leaves, ginger and orchids designed by Antilles Lilies. His leather sandals paired with a taupe linen suit, set the tone for this beach casual wedding. Greg was aligned by groomsmen wearing complementary white button-down shirts and khaki pants.

Officiant Rodney Koopmans of St. Croix Reformed Church recited a “personal ceremony the three of us collaborated on” says Ashley. Traditional and personally written vows were read by the couple, as well as scripture and book passages recited by their siblings. Rings custom made by Crucian Gold and traditional hook bracelets from Sonya’s Limited in Christiansted, were exchanged by the couple. Photographer Quiana Duncan captured key moments for the bride and groom on thier special day.

Guests returned to Carambola’s Saman Terrace for cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres. The couple’s entrance was followed by first dances and the cutting of the bride’s cake. The two-tiered red velvet cake enveloped cream cheese filling, covered with white chocolate icing and an assortment of detailed sugar seashells. The confection was created by Pastry Chef Jennifer Jordan. The groom’s cake, inspired by his favorite dessert from the couple’s first date, included layers of chocolate cake and candy-filled strawberry gelato, crafted by Pastry Chef Dennis Gribbin of Starfish Patisserie.

At each place setting, guests were given metal luggage tags embossed with an ocean image, along with their names and addresses added by a calligrapher. Guests settled-in for a fourcourse dinner prepared by Chef Bryan Sica, while a seven piece jazz ensemble lead by Stanford Joines provided musical entertainment. At the end of the evening, the couple made their getaway down a grand marble staircase adjacent to the terrace, lined by groomsmen holding flaming tiki torches. A golf cart with a “just married” banner on the back whisked away the bride and groom to their elaborately decorated honeymoon suite.

A farewell brunch was held the day after to wrap-up the four days of wedding events. While the wedding experience provided “all that we wanted,” says Ashley, the couple wanted more of St. Croix. “We had a hard time leaving after our wedding,” says Greg. The couple relocated to the island several months later. Greg and Ashley currently reside in a home on the east end of St. Croix.

Visiting The Virgin Islands is truly a delightful experience. Island hopping is always exciting and made easy as there are numerous water taxis, ferries, flights and even sea planes that travel from island to island daily.

St. Thomas, most populated of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is known for the incredible shopping in Charlotte Amalie. If it is jewelry you seek you have traveled to the perfect spot in the Carribbean.
Above and beyond the shopping opportunities, St. Thomas offers beautiful white sand beaches with delightful refreshing turquoise waters. Coki Beach offers refreshments and beach shops along
with incredible swimming. Coral World, right next door is a delightful experience – much more than an aquarium. Feeding the stingrays is incredible fun- a real hands on experience, literally. Enjoy the sea
lion show and the giant sea turtles.

St. Croix is known for its beautiful vistas and great snorkeling from nearby Buck Island. St. Croix has two distinct landscapes, tall green forest on one end of the island and dry grasslands on the
other. St. Croix hosts the only casino in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Divi Carina Bay. The lush rainforest is a must see. To thoroughly enjoy it, a leisure horseback ride is an option. St. Croix also hosts the
spectacular Carambola Golf Course. The island is also the home of the Cruzan Rum Distillery.

St. John, smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands is a mere 20 square miles. It has numerous stunning white sand beaches and a relaxing laid back tropical feel. It is the ideal island for
honeymooners and families. Cruz Bay offers many delightful shops and delectable restaurants.

The British Virgin Islands is a group of islands well known for the many sailing opportunities. Whether you bring along your own captain or charter a fully staffed yacht, it is a treat to sail
from island to island exploring the Carribbean as you go.

Tortola is the largest of The BVI’s and is a mountainous island 13.5 miles long. It was formed by a volcano many years ago. Road Town, the largest city is lucky to be home to many International
businesses. They contribute a great deal to the island economy. Visit the beautiful beaches or if you are seeking a fantastic family adventure visit the Dolphin Discovery. Creating unforgettable
memories, it really is the experience of a lifetime. Enjoy interactive programs and take home a video of your fabulous adventure.

If it is tranquility you are seeking, Virgin Gorda may be the right choice. Slow paced, friendly locals welcome guests with open arms. The breathtaking boulders known as The Baths are something that
should not be missed. Travel by ferry to the Bitter End where you can take the launch to Saba Rock – one of the most unique resorts in the world. Surrounded by the North Sound, this party island replete
with every water sport you can imagine, offers a truly relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

Jost Van Dyke welcomes many boaters. It is a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers. The Soggy Dollar Bar in White Bay is famous for creating the Painkiller – a potent rum coconut cocktail. Since there is no dock, those who care to visit must swim ashore – thus the name Soggy Dollar Bar.

Anegada – island of coral sand boasts some of the loveliest beaches in the Carribbean. You will find most beaches deserted and very peaceful. It is surrounded by the Horseshoe Reef – one of the largest coral reefs in the world. It is a very flat island reaching only 28 ft at its highest point.

For so many brides, there is one aspect of wedding planning which is simultaneously the most exciting and the most challenging: flowers

For so many brides, there is one aspect of wedding planning which is simultaneously the most exciting and the most challenging: flowers.

As one recent bride puts it, “With flowers, you just want to go crazy!” Even if the theme and color scheme are simple, so many delightful options abound that many brides find it difficult to rein in their passions and decide just which specimens will suit. Whether taking the traditional side with white roses and lilies, or incorporating some tropical flair with birds of paradise and heliconia, the
possibilities are endless.

Any bride planning to tie the knot on St. Thomas will have plenty of personal attention from Roses Too and Roses Too East, a fullservice florist in two convenient locations. Established in 1986, the
shop’s dedicated consultants have ample experience in providing the perfect floral touch. Whether the wedding is on a beach or a yacht, Roses Too Inc. is ready to work with any budget and any venue.
This versatility is one of Roses Too’s many appealing features.

Owners Diane Bryan and Felipe Ayala Jr. explain that, given the growing popularity of custom weddings, it is especially fulfilling to know that she can provide brides with exactly what they’ve envisioned for their special day. “We order our flowers from all over the world,” she says, adding that they are happy to accommodate nearly any request. Whether a bride is seeking the most outrageous of floral flair, or the simple comfort of flowers found in her mother’s garden, she is bound to find what she’s looking for at Roses Too.

“My favorite part of this business is the customer service,” Diane adds, “and just making sure everyone’s happy.” Considering the shop’s vast resources and diverse services, including delivery to any location on St. Thomas, accomplishing that feat should prove only too easy. Interested brides are invited to peruse the shop’s website, www.rosestoo.com, for more information on this outstanding florist.

Brides planning their nuptials on St. John are also in for a floral treat: Bou-Quet, which just opened for business in November of 2009. Owner Sally Varlack, who also owns Sally’s Couture, says of her decision to launch the business, “I’ve always done flowers as a hobby, so when the other flower shop closed here in St. John, I jumped at the opportunity.” Although she admits that running two businesses can be a handful, she has been pleased at how well the two have dovetailed.

“I love it all,” she admits, laughing. “The best part of it is the end result – the ‘wow-factor’ for the customer.” Lately, she says, she’s been receiving requests for a lot of tropical bouquets, a possible trend to look out for during the 2010 wedding season. “I think it’s a lot of fun putting them together,” she explains – but then again, there isn’t much about flowers that Sally Varlack doesn’t love. “My passion is flowers,” she says, simply, yet with an overtone of utmost contentment.

With a standing promise to provide, as Bou-Quet’s business motto puts it, “fresh flowers to color your dreams,” it is hard to resist giving Varlack yet another reason to exercise her passion. Such eager dedication cannot help but produce glorious results, and as her business grows, Varlack looks forward to finding new and creative ways to share her love of flowers with her clients. While the website for Bou-Quet is still under construction, Sally encourages brides-to-be to email inquiries to gayle@sallys-couture.com.

Luckily, the unexpected mishap that took place will make the day that much more memorable for the self-described “casual” couple. It will be a day they can look back on together and laugh.

David credits Cristina’s participation in triathlons with getting his own “competitive juices flowing” at the beginning of their relationship. A swimmer in college, Cristina’s participation in triathlons quickly inspired David to follow suit. “As of now, we’ve probably done a hundred races together.”

David chose the day of a big race to be the day he asked for Cristina’s hand in marriage. The 5K “Run for the Bulls” race was sponsored by Merrill Lynch, the company for which both David and Cristina work. Throughout the race, the couple was surrounded by friends and colleagues, but David decided to wait for a quieter moment at home to pop the question. In preparation for the proposal, he chilled a bottle of fine champagne, collected from the winery of a close friend. He wanted to chill it during the race, “so it would be ready when we got home.” A sparkling toast in honor of the proposal was meant to represent the couple’s shared passion for wine and champagne, and regular trips together to Napa, California to enjoy the region’s famed vineyard selections.

Following the race, Cristina retreated to the shower to clean up while David snuck off to prepare the champagne. Instead, he found the cork had popped from the semi-frozen bottle, covering
the freezer with champagne crystals. At David’s calling, Cristina emerged from the shower, clad only in a towel, to investigate and immediately began questioning him as to why their expensive bottle
of champagne had been left to explode. “I remember turning to David and saying, ‘what in the world did you do? You know enough about wine to never put a bottle of sparkling in the freezer!’” Amidst
the laughable mess, David finally admitted his flawed plan. “I told her it’s because I was going to ask her to marry me!”

He then presented Cristina with “the most gorgeous solitaire diamond ring I had ever seen,” she says. “It truly sparkled,” she remembered. “What a moment! A man in running gear and a woman in
a towel. How romantic!” Despite the slightly unusual circumstances, David believes that the proposal was “fitting, based on the casual way we handle our relationship.”

David and Cristina met in 2001 as recent college graduates enrolled in an intensive eight-week analyst training program for Merrill Lynch. The 60 program participants were able to forge close
friendships during the training and job placement program. Cristina was finally placed in Chicago while David stayed in Princeton, New Jersey. When Cristina was relocated back to Princeton a year later, David volunteered his local knowledge to help her find a new apartment.
Shortly after her arrival, David invited Cristina to a Fourth of July celebration with friends at the Jersey Shore.

“We ended up hanging out and talking all night,” says David. When the couple realized how much they enjoyed one another’s company, they began to spend more and more time together, both outside of work and at the office, where they worked less than twenty feet apart. “That Fourth of July get-together at a Jersey Shore beach club proved to be the start of a new relationship for both of us—together,” says Cristina.

Nearly five years later, the couple began planning their dream wedding. “We knew immediately that we wanted a destination wedding,” says Cristina, but they were torn among choices like Napa Valley, Bermuda, Florida, and Newport, Rhode Island. Nothing “clicked” until a family friend suggested St. Croix, specifically recommending The Buccaneer resort. A visit to the website enticed
David and Cristina to plan a “scouting visit” to the island six months before the wedding took place. “We were sold,” says Cristina.

The family-owned Buccaneer resort is the longest-running in the Caribbean and Virgin Islands, founded in the 17th century, and provides personalized service without seeming overly commercialized. As an added bonus, the island offers a wide array of options for wedding guest activity. “We wanted to provide our guests with atop-notch getaway that would allow them to
do whatever they wanted,” explains Cristina. “Although it was our wedding, it was their vacation.”

Wedding planner Corrine Farinola helped David and Cristina plan their wedding from their home in Princeton. “It was difficult to get used to the fact that things will get done without you overseeing
them,” says Cristina, “but Corrine was the most organized, detailoriented, responsive, creative planner we could have hoped for.” She made suggestions, contacted vendors, and most importantly, kept the couple in the loop with regular updates.

With Farinola’s help, the couple set off for St. Croix less than six months later, confident that their wedding week would be full
of unforgettable island activities. The day of arrival offered guests
an opportunity to attend a wine tasting, followed by a casino night
at the nearby Divi Beach Resort and Casino. The tropical rum punch
flowed the following day as guests enjoyed a sunset sail on a
catamaran hosted by Caribbean Sea Adventures. “Not a single one
of our fifty-six guests had ever been to St. Croix,” explains Cristina.
“We got to introduce everyone to a new island, new friends, and
new memories.”

The day before the wedding, the couple hosted a Tan Tan tour of
the island. The tour included a stop at the a tide pool at Annaly Bay,
a trip to the highest point of the island, and a visit to a sugar mill deep in the St. Croix rainforest. “The tour was definitely the highlight of the
trip for those who went on it,” says Cristina. A bridal luncheon hosted
by a bridesmaid and her mother followed, at the beachside Mermaid
Restaurant. The night concluded with a rehearsal dinner at the Brew
Pub restaurant, at the Buccaneer.

When guests arrived at the outdoor wedding site the following
day, they were offered beer and wine as they waited to be seated for
the sunset ceremony. Banana fans attached to the chairs provided
guests with a wedding program that reflected the champagne and
pistachio color theme. Soon enough, Cristina emerged in a strapless
ivory Vera Wang gown with champagne-colored ribbon detailing,
holding a lively bouquet of green cymbidium orchids. Her groom
waited for Cristina beneath an historic St. Croix sugar mill. His light
khaki suit, crisp white shirt, and flip flops captured the casual island
mood perfectly. He was flanked by three groomsmen in corresponding
white and khaki ensembles, and four bridesmaids wearing cocktail
dresses in pistachio silk.
Officiate Louise Leard recited a “touching personal account
of the life we had already started together and the lives we would
continue to lead,” says Cristina. Photographer Quiana Duncan alternated
between full-color and black-and-white images to capture the
stunning beauty of the island as a backdrop for the newlyweds to
preserve their wedding memories.
Guests returned to the Buccaneer’s Brass Parrot restaurant
for cocktail hour to await the couple’s formal entrance, which was
followed by dancing and the cutting of the cake. The three-tiered
chocolate rum cake hid raspberry filling, and was decorated with
ivory buttercream icing and a cascade of fresh green flowers. The
confection was created by Buccaneer Food & Beverage director
Dennis Giancontiere, who added a final flourish by adding the initials
of the bride and groom across the base of the cake.
The couple added a unique finishing touch that made their
reception truly memorable. During the party, held in the Buccaneer’s
Brass Parrot restaurant, David and Cristina surprised guests with a
DVD photo montage of the two at various stages in their lives. The
montage was set to music, and followed David and Cristina from
childhood through their various adventures as a couple.
After the video surprise, guests settled down to enjoy a delicious
dinner prepared by Giancontiere while flamenco guitarist Steven
Katz, flutist Jennifer Gallegos, and violinist Brian Silber provided
musical entertainment. When the fun-loving guests managed to
outlast the formal reception, the party continued with several nightcap
toasts in the open-air Terrace Lounge.
A relaxing snorkeling excursion to nearby Buck Island was
planned for the following day concluding the five-day tropical
extravaganza that turned out to be everything newlyweds David and
Cristina Breslin could ever hope for. “We wouldn’t have done a single
thing differently,” says Cristina. “We’re lucky. We had an absolutely
amazing experience.”

As John Mardenborough pondered over how to meet gorgeous Shankia T. Dixon, he simply volunteered: “You need to call me!”
John had just spoken to a group, including the beguiling Shankia Teion, about taxes, saving money and other financial necessities. They all had gathered at the First Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church, in Baltimore, Maryland where Shankia is a member of the Church and was a member at the time of the Liturgical Dance.
John’s full schedule kept him busy for months. Spotting Shankia, out and about, he led with “You didn’t call me. . . ” and she replied “Yes. I forgot!” John was aware that he was waiting for her to reach out to him. “So when she called, our conversation was light and easy; followed by a brief dinner at Bennigan’s . . . and I did get the ‘interested’ vibes. Soon there were more dinners, an early one at Friday’s, and when they were less tenderfooted, gradually moving up to finer dining.
John tells that their relationship formed early on, with authenticity being very important, especially with their age span. He is 45 and she, 29. “I knew it would be an investment in time,” tells John, although he was often rather short on that commodity!

After no mention of the “M” word during three and a half years of dating, John set up the proposal while they were travelling in St. Thomas. As Shankia tells it: “John was looking at jewelry and rings for me, while visiting our favorite jeweler, and at the last jewelry case door, one of the jewelers put the ring on my finger. Of course, John always jokes, so I thought nothing of it. I then said to the jeweler: “Why do you keep putting that ring on my finger – John doesn’t want to be married! John replied: “How do you know I don’t?”
By December, 2006 they were off to St. Thomas to make preliminary preparations. John handled the detailed organization of events along with his sister, De’Borah V. Mardenborough-McRae, and friends of the bride. Shankia handled the details of wedding loveliness. “She never faltered in her first choice of a St. Pucchi original gown, seen at Bridal Boutique in New York.
An inspired replica of that very gown was created for her by Earle Bannister Couture, with the addition of Swarovski crystals, ostritch feathers and hand embroidered flowers. Shankia discovered stunning Salvatore Ferragamo mid-height heels at Neiman Marcus with Swarovski crystals adorned straps. Shankia’s “something borrowed” was a half million dollars in borrowed jewels, including earrings and bracelet from Trident Jewelers.
The groom wore a Michael Sahi Couture tuxedo incorporating Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ Royal Wedding theme. Earle Bannister Couture designed and presented Royal accessories of ropes, cords, and a gold buckle, not to mention the Burberry underwear, similar to that worn by Prince Charles for his own wedding. John sported a Rolex President’s watch with diamonds, as well as a traditional “something borrowed” — a watch, which had
been purchased for his jeweler, Mac Dodani of Trident Jewelers in St. Thomas USVI. Mac’s wife was gifting Mac with that watch for Christmas, ten days later!
Longtime family friend and master tailor, Nick Kyritsopoulos, owner of King’s Contrivance Formal Wear, contributed mens’ tuxedos Groomsmen included John’s brother, Albert D. Francis, and nephew and godson, Montel R. Hill, II.
The matron of honor, Carrie Hummel, wore a David’s Bridal Couture Collection of mint green with a papaya belt, designed by Earle Bannister Couture of Baltimore, Maryland. Carrie was the bride’s sixth grade teacher, who was always Shankia’s “Big Sister.” Carrie was always so helpful to Shankia in pursuing her education.
The long-awaited wedding was held in the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Beach Resort at the Norma Kennedy Nuptial Garden. It was preceded by the Episcopal procession, followed by a procession from the Presidential Suite down to the lobby, and
then out into the gorgeous garden area overlooking the panoramic view of the St. Thomas harbor and Caribbean Sea. Apropos musical background was Ribbon in the Sky by Stevie Wonder.
The delighted groom serenaded his wife to be, with When I First Saw You from The Dreamgirls as she promenaded down the aisle. Wellwishers were astonished!
Following formal nuptials and fabulous photography, which capitalized on the incredible sunlight provided for their special day, guests gathered in Harbour Rooms II and III at the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Hotel and Beach Resort. That spectacular overlook offered a panoramic view of downtown Charlotte Amalie, so picturesque at night.
The elegant reception scene included white satin linen covered chairs, with lush papaya satin bows. White linen tablecloths, overlaid with papaya-colored linens, featured florist Lorna Webster’s spectacular tall flute vase centerpieces, filled with calla lilies, plus green and peach orchids.
The groom’s mother, Mary L. Mardenborough, and his aunt, Jeany Hodge, both chefs, created favors of pineapple/coconut individual tarts, along with carrot cake, in gorgeous boxes tied with papaya and mint green bows. The couple’s non-traditional invitations were DVD’s of their lives, and their love story. Their DVD’s, including an abbreviated tour of the island of St. Thomas, were professionally produced by Tracy A. Tripplett of Hidden Treasure Media, LLC.
The elated newlyweds were seated at a sweetheart table on the top riser, with the bridal party on the next level down. Round tables for 10 to 12 were scattered about Harbour Rooms II and III. Music included a magnificent grand piano and tunes from DJ Paul Small.
Photographer Tom Boyd didn’t miss a minute of anything on that entire wedding day.
The delectable wedding menu included: Baby field greens with mango, hearts of palm, artichokes, red onion and toasted macadamia nuts, choice of mango vinaigrette or balsamic vinaigrette. A very special plate of steamed king crabs were presented to the delighted bride.
Add to that menu, a duo of filet mignon and chicken Romano, steamed vegetable medley, and potatoes. Children were treated to chickenfingers and French fries.
Pastry Chef, Audrey Powell, created their gorgeous wedding cake, her legendary Vienna cake with strawberries and pineapple, which, of course, disappeared instantly!
Following their fabulous wedding, the happy couple honeymooned for two weeks in the South Pacific, including Hawaii, Fiji and Bora Bora, concluding in Los Angeles, California for additional days of relaxation.
After such an enchanting year, it was evidently “exciting just to relax and unwind!”

Amazing how the news of fabulous Virgin Islands wedding venues gets around! Especially when the venue is the British Virgin Islands aboard a VOYAGE catamaran managed by VOYAGE charters, who constantly and carefully make magical, waterborne dreams come true.

Amazing how the news of fabulous Virgin Islands wedding venues gets around! Especially when the venue is the British Virgin Islands aboard a VOYAGE catamaran managed by VOYAGE charters, who constantly and carefully make magical, waterborne dreams come true.

Unfamiliar with the British Virgin Islands, newlyweds Alan and Teresa Schaefer learned of the “endless white sandy beaches and turquoise Caribbean Sea from a few close friends vacationing there.” Their favorite find came from “those helpful friends, who had discovered a large striking, luxurious catamaran from VOYAGE Charters.

With that data, Alan and Teresa were soon deep into a life changing experience, for themelves and close friends. “The BVI became our special thing.”

This was all so very far from the busy fast-paced environment of Theresa’s life, and Alan’s own touring of the world, playing music with his band, Five Star Iris.” So there was little need for discussion when magical wedding plans ensued. They included 30 closest friends and family, travelling to the place the couple loved so much. “VOYAGE charters was so much a part of it all, including a day sail on two of them.”

As in nearly all wedding arrangements, there was that everpresent, yet never expected, small glitch! Tells Alan: “To my surprise and horror, when our pumped-up group sailed up to Soper’s Hole Marina, I discovered that I had booked for the wrong day! My heart sank … briefly. The folks at VOYAGE dropped everything, and moved mountains to make it happen for all of us. That day they became part of our family!”

“Since the wedding, we have done three more glorious charters with them… especially remembering our feelings when we sail by the place we tied the knot.” Evidently their guests are still talking about how amazing that whole experience was!

Another young couple in love, Rane and Alice Downing, searched out the perfectly magical wedding destination. Turns out, they already lived there! “We realized that the BVI, already our home and workplace, was our ultimate wedding destination.” And so, family and friends around the globe received tropical themed invitations announcing the fusing of the happy couple’s lives.

Four days before the wedding, the couple, including bridal entourage, set sail, aboard two fully crewed luxury sailing catamarans, from Soper’s Hole Marina at the Western tip of Tortola.Ten guests were aboard each vessel, which featured luxurious private queen and king cabins en suite, with personal captain and chef to offer even more pampering and indulgence.

On the fifth day of the six night dream charter, the wedding party headed for Sandy Spit, a tiny piece of deserted tropical island, surrounded by white, pearly beach sand and calm turquoise waters. The single palm tree created “shades of romance” — an incredible ambience for the two to become one.

Arriving by the yachts tender, the young pastor officiated the marriage of Rane and Alice on the beach, under the Caribbean breezes of tropical palms, with waves swirling around their bare feet. As the bridal party threw fresh, bright tropical fuschia flowers into the air, the newlyweds laughed and cried.

Champagne corks popping signaled the reception ceremonies to begin.

Later they all moved onboard for even more blended luxury, along with scrumptious, delights — a feast of LOVE – flowing fabulously from the galley all evening. And the Captain served delicious tropical cocktails to the strains of the couple’s favorite romantic songs.

Rane and Alice continue to live and work in the BVI. Still very romantically and happily married. They look forward to renewing their vows one day, aboard a VOYAGE charter dream yacht, never losing sight of the wonderful and blissful memories of their “Fairytale Wedding.”

Lured by the romance of flying, pilots Kacy and Nick Baehr first met in the cockpit of a plane over the Caribbean Sea. “To fly over the most beautiful part of the world was a dream for both of us. Not surprisingly, the romance of flying the Caribbean began to mingle with what became the romance between us. One day, as Kacy and I flew into Tortola, I took a picture of what we agreed was the most beautiful island in the Caribbean. We never dreamed that one day we would be married there!’’

“Not long after, we returned to Tortola to see if we could make that wedding dream a reality. Neither of us wanted to spend our life savings, and it sometimes seemed difficult to find people that took our wedding as seriously as we did.” When the delighted couple found VOYAGE charters, they immediately knew they had met the right people to create their dream plans.

“They are a family at VOYAGE charters and we felt like we were a part of it. When we saw the yachts, our decision was made. The VOYAGE catamarans were perfect, luxurious, plenty of room for our 25 guests and incredible crew!”

Since every wedding seems to have a mini crisis, theirs was finding a new minister at the last minute. No problem for their new family at VOYAGE charters, who found the happy couple a great Minister, within a day.

“As our wedding party approached that same island, which Kacy and I had looked upon from the cockpit, we realized that it had all come together. We got married in nature’s church.”

This happy couple describes that day as “casual perfection. Our VOYAGE crew, and their planning of our wedding day, made it an effortless success. They allowed us to enjoy our experience without worrying about every detail.”

“When we return to Tortola, we will visit our friends at VOYAGE. And when the time comes to renew our vows, we will know exactly where to go.”

“We build fabulous VOYAGE yachts, which we exclusively charter to suit the particular desires of each client,”tells Stella Beavis, manager of Charter Sales at VOYAGE charters USA, in Annapolis, MD.

“Clients tell us of their specific needs and dates, and we recommend a couple of yachts within our Luxury Crewed fleet, depending on availability. For bridal couples, “we assist in every way to insure a marvelous wedding celebration, whatever it takes” to make every detail from organizing to ceremony to menu.

The VOYAGE 580 can accommodate up to 10 guests with 2 crew, and the VOYAGE 500 accommodates up to 8 guests with 2 crew.

From the moment the jubilant couples arrive, it’s obvious they truly are embarking on an ecstatic romantic VOYAGE, carefully choreographed by VOYAGE charters.
