David Breslin’s carefully planned marriage proposal to his longtime girlfriend, Cristina Lambert, veered off track in the course of the day. Luckily, the unexpected mishap that took place will make the day that much more memorable for the self-described “casual” couple. It will be a day they can look back on together and laugh.

After no mention of the “M” word during three and a half years of dating, John set up the proposal while they were travelling in St. Thomas. As Shankia tells it: “John was looking at jewelry and rings for me, while visiting our favorite jeweler, and at the last jewelry case door, one of the jewelers put the ring on my finger. Of course, John always jokes, so I thought nothing of it. I then said to the jeweler: “Why do you keep putting that ring on my finger – John doesn’t want to be married! John replied: “How do you know I don’t?”
